Getting the Facts Straight

Recently, Greenpeace insinuated in a public release that Shell’s aspirations for offshore Alaska are somehow linked to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

That’s false. ANWR is an onshore prospect currently off-limits for exploration and located roughly 15 miles from Shell’s closest leases in the Beaufort Sea.  Shell’s investment in Alaska is exclusively offshore. We remain confident in our ability to operate in the Arctic in a safe, environmentally responsible manner - with no harm to people, marine mammals or the environment.
