Shell Plus DeeDee Equals Pure Energy

Musher DeeDee Jonrowe runs on pure energy, including on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

DeeDee Jonrowe runs on pure energy – whether it’s mushing the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, participating in the Ironman Triathlon or fighting breast cancer. The Iditarod, also called “the toughest race on Earth,” covers more than 1,000 miles in sub-zero temperatures, whiteout conditions and strong winds. For 30 years, DeeDee has fought her way to the front of the pack.

Although DeeDee has never placed first in the Iditarod, she has received many other honors, including running the Iditarod faster than any other woman. She has also received numerous sportsmanship awards and competing – and winning – many other sled dog races.

DeeDee embodies her motto: “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” And wherever DeeDee has gone, she has won hearts along the way, including that of Shell Alaska. Shell Alaska has sponsored DeeDee Jonrowe for a couple years, and the sponsorship is one of mutual respect.

“Shell is proud to be a major sponsor of Iditarod Hall of Fame musher, DeeDee Jonrowe. DeeDee’s commitment to her dogs, her sport and the state of Alaska is to be admired and we look forward to a long partnership with one of Alaska’s premier and most admired athletes,” said Shell spokesman Curtis Smith.

“I felt that Shell had shown that same commitment,” she said. “I wanted to be a partner with someone that had a similar respect for the people of Alaska, for the landscape and the environment of Alaska, and that had an understanding of the hard work and the harsh conditions that exist in order to do it right and do it safely in Alaska.”

The Iditarod’s ceremonial start takes place Saturday, March 3 in Anchorage.
