Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix set to return to Houston
The three day festival of speed will offer a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment complementing world-class racing around a 1.7-mile, 10-turn street course track built in and around NRG Park.
With this great racing spectacle coming back to Houston, it’s important to know why Shell is proud to be a sponsor of this race and continues to be an active member of the motorsports community.
Shell bridges both worlds of race and road cars with more than a half-century of motorsports expertise and technical partnerships providing a testing ground for fuel and lubricant technologies and products in the harshest racing environments.
Our scientists take learnings from the track to help develop the high quality fuels and lubricants that you’ve come to expect from Shell. Ultimately, we see the racetrack as today’s laboratory for tomorrow’s mobility.
In its infancy, racing pioneered ways for cars to move faster, longer and safer, which new automakers inexpensively adapted for street vehicles. So whenever motorists drive today, they use decades of race-inspired technology ranging from full rear-view mirrors to the basic engine design.
Our motorsports technical alliances around the world provide a testing ground for fuel and lubricant technologies and products in the harshest racing environments to gain insight and develop technology that can be used both on-track and in consumers’ vehicles.
The high-octane Verizon IndyCar Series “doubleheader” will headline the weekend with two individual races, held Saturday and Sunday, and scheduled to air on NBC Sports at 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. Four additional racing series and races will support and boost the IndyCar action over the weekend.
Through technical partnerships with Ferrari, Ducati and the Shell-Pennzoil team in NASCAR, Shell has the most extreme test bed to develop the best premium products for every Shell customer.
