Shell Incentive Fund Scholarship

Shell Oil Company offers $5,000 annual scholarships through its Shell Incentive Fund Scholarship program to under-represented students pursuing an undergraduate degree in a specific technical field of study at certain colleges. The scholarship can be used to pay for tuition and/or school expenses.

If the necessary criteria are met, a student’s scholarship may be renewed up to four year’s or until bachelor degree requirements are met, whichever occurs first. Scholarship recipients are notified in the summer following their application.

To qualify you must:

  • Be a US citizen or authorized to work on a full-time basis in the United States. 
  • Be enrolled full-time as a sophomore, junior, or senior in one of the specified institutions. If you are not a full-time student (for example, you are not taking a full course load or will be taking on a co-op opportunity), you will not be eligible for a scholarship that semester.
  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale), which must be maintained throughout your participation in the program.
  • Major in one of the following disciplines: geology, geophysics or physics; chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, petroleum, geological, or geophysical engineering.
  • Be a member of at least one of the following under-represented minorities: Black (Not of Hispanic Origin), Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, or Alaskan Native.

Renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon the student remaining qualified and accepting a Shell Oil Company internship if offered prior to December 1st of the funding year. If an applicant has an unsuccessful interview, internship, or assessment, he/she will not be eligible to receive a scholarship or have the scholarship renewed.

Students are eligible to receive only one scholarship (either the Shell Incentive Fund or the Shell Technical Scholarship).

All phases of the application process must be completed and received by May 31, 2013, to be considered for the scholarship award.

Shell Technical Scholarship

Shell Process Technology Scholarship

The Shell Process Technology Scholarship is provided to students who seek an education to obtain employment in the industries that use and control mechanical, physical or chemical processes to produce a final product.

This scholarship is for students who are currently enrolled or are planning to enroll in any of the following two-year degree programs:

  • Process/Production Technology
  • Petroleum Technology
  • Compressor/Compression Technology
  • Electrical/Electronics Technology
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology
  • Instrumentation/Analyzer Technology
  • Machinist/Mechanical Technology

There is a three-year time limit to complete the Process Technology or Instrumentation Technology degree programs and a maximum total of $2,000 available for each individual scholarship awarded. Funds must be distributed within three calendar years from the date of the scholarship award.

To qualify you must: 

  • Be a US citizen or authorized to work on a full-time basis in the United States.
  • Be enrolled full or part-time in a Process Technology (or Instrumentation Technology) two-year degree program OR be a high school senior planning to enroll in the Process Technology (or Instrumentation Technology) two-year degree program.
  • Be enrolled in at least one Process Technology or Instrumentation Technology course per semester unless pursuing a four-year degree.

Full-time students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours that are applicable to a Process Technology or four-year degree plan and are eligible for a maximum of $750 per semester for tuition fees, books and on-campus room and board, not to exceed $2000 total.

Part-time students must enroll in a minimum of 6 and maximum of 11 credit hours that are applicable to a Process Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or four-year degree plan, and are eligible for a maximum of $500 per semester to complete the Process Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or four-year degree program.

Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program

The Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program focuses on developing talent in the engineering and geosciences field by providing assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science.

Shell will sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,500 for graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell.  Upon successful completion of first year studies and other criteria established by Shell, the recipient may be eligible to receive a four-year renewable award of $5,000 annually.
