Who knew running could be so much fun? On a beautiful crisp and sunny fall day in Anacortes, Washington Park provided a picturesque course for 109 adults and 35 kids to walk, jog, or run their way to the finish line for Shell Puget Sound Refinery’s inaugural “Fueling Education Fun Run.”
Earlier this year, PSR’s own Contracts and Procurement Manager Ryan Kudlacek proposed a vision for a Shell sponsored Fun Run here in Anacortes. Knowing that teachers have a core understanding of what is needed most in their classrooms, Ryan wanted to create and support a pool of funding for a teacher application grant system in Anacortes schools.
With these goals in mind, a committee of Shell employees planned for months for the big event, which took place on Saturday October 3rd. This partnership between the Shell Refinery and the Anacortes Schools Foundation (ASF) ultimately raised over $35,000 for the Foundation!
