Safety specialists in the petrochemical industry play a critical role in protecting workers, the facility and its neighbors. Safety encompasses both process safety – the safe functioning of the facility – and personal safety, which focuses on the workers on site.
You will assist the health and safety manager is ensuring safe operations of the facility by advising on safe work practices (complex energy control, confined space, hot work and safe work permitting); monitoring and auditing field-related activities to help front line operators understand and implement safety programs; and providing field health and safety support to plant operations and projects personnel.
High school diploma or GED and experience in field; bachelor’s degree in engineering or health and safety field preferred. Equivalent years of military service may be acceptable, in lieu of experience.
